Grad School’s menu has burgers, sandwiches, salads, chicken and pasta. Patrons can choose their spice level and choice of protein — chicken, steak, tilapia or falafel blend — with several of its dishes. Vegetarians, and even vegans, can feel at home at Grad School.

The Ali Baba and Wangs are both great ways to start the meal. Grad School’s hummus is thick and full of smoky flavor. I enjoy the hot, oily pita chips and soft flatbread. I find myself stealing bites of the flatbread even after my burger arrives.

I don’t think the Deathstar Wangs will be spicy enough for me, but I’m pleasantly surprised. well, I don’t know if pleasantly is the right word. Shocked? I’m shocked. after one bite, my mouth is on fire, and I’m reaching for my water glass. And I keep reaching. I’m a spice hound, so believe me when I say that these wings are hot.

When our full Ride arrives, I’m still trying to choke down water from the spicy wings. The burger itself isn’t as big as I thought it would be.

Miranda’s right about the caramelized onions. They add great flavor, but really, caramelized onions are the perfect complement to any dinner.

Though Miranda likes the soft cheddar, it’s not for me. I prefer a plain, old hunk of melted cheese, and I’m a bit thrown off by the cheese’s sauce-like texture.

Grad School’s fries make the dish for me. They’re hot and crispy. I love the small pieces of potato that get extra crispy when fried, and there were plenty of those little crispies to keep me satisfied.

I thought I had to go to Silver Dollar City to get a greasy, sugary funnel cake, but I was mistaken. Grad School’s funnel cake is sweet and crispy, but like other funnel cakes, I’m only able to enjoy a few bites before my stomach begs me to stop.

The Dish, the Restaurant

When Grad School owner Danny Schlink graduated with a bachelor’s degree in history, he realized that on its own, his degree wasn’t too employable. A huge majority of his classmates decided to continue their education. “You’d ask anyone where they were going, and they would say, ‘grad school’.”
