For most of us who are working, lunch often becomes the only “big meal” time we have. since we take most of our time working in the afternoon, lunchtime become an opportunity to pile up heavy, high-calorie food. especially when you choose to dine-out. Before you know it, you have topped out on your daily calories at lunch time. If you dine out often, you should know these tricks to keep the calories low, and your stomach satisfied.
1. Put sauce on the side
Healthy, low-calorie foods can lose their nutritional benefits and even turn to be foods with high calorie count if they are cooked or poured with sauce. If you are eating in a restaurant that serve a dish with sauce, ask them to put the sauce on the side of the plate. It can help you to control the amount of sauce you consume. plus, if you dip your food into the sauce instead of pour the sauce onto the food, you will be surprised about how little you actually need.
2. Add some fiber
Start with some soup or salad. It is a great way to have a low calorie meal and get in some vegetable servings for the day. Fiber can fill your stomach and makes you feel satisfied. but it is not only that. Adding in a cup of rice or other whole grains will give you filling fiber for only around 100 calories.
3. Chips ? no, pickles !
We know the temptations : the crunchy satisfactions and salty-tasty sensations. but these are temptations that can kill you. Chips have such killer calorie count. Opt for a pickle spear instead. they have only a few calories per spear, but pickles do pack a lot of sodium. try making your own with different flavors and vegetables.
4. Opt for child’s meal
Often, the differences between a grown-up meal course and child’s meal course are only the amounts and portions. The smaller portions are better for you and many fast food restaurants now offer healthier options like fruit sides rather than french fries.
