Majesco: Zumba Fitness Tops 500,000 Units in the USA
Majesco, a small publisher based in New Jersey that has focused on Wii and DS to return to profitability with mass market games in recent years (see Cooking Mama and others) has its first big multi-platform motion hit of the generation. the company has announced that its Zumba Fitness game for Wii, Kinect and Move has topped 500,000 units in the USA, despite launching just over a month ago, in late November.
For those curious – Zumba is almost a perfect combination of dancing & fitness as you can see in videos like this and this – so it isn’t surprising the game is working on Wii, Kinect and Move. Majesco should have a million-seller on its hand with this title, and 2-3 million is not out of the question at all, as this is the first Zumba game ever.
The company says sales remained strong after Christmas, and a Kinect update is coming shortly. Majesco’s full press-release is below.
