Still alot to be done, says Qoro October 22, 2010
by Lavenia Vuadreu National netball coach Gabriel Qoro says there is still a lot to be done following the first get together of the national squad on October 9 at the USP Gym. “As expected, after the test was tabulated, it was clear that we need to do a lot of work on our endurance, strength, core stability, flexibility, agility and stamina,” Qoro said. “these are the components of fitness that we need to work on at this early phases of our training pyramid.” “I was expecting these results and surely we will work on them, so that they could show improvement come the next test.” Skills, he said, is quite good with the players. “But I need to develop them on a broader base, hence they need to train hard now towards improving their stamina, endurance and strength so that the players could last the whole game.” He said the idea to inject more youth into the squad is paying off. “Majority of those young Under 21 players have forced their way in to the squad which means they have the commitment to make it into the final team, which will make the current squad, work extra hard to maintain their spot in the team. “It is a good balance as need to inject new blood in to the team so that we can have a balanced team in our final trials,” Qoro said. the national squad will meet up next on Saturday November 21 in Suva.
