Anybody know a WWII/ Vietnam veteran who could do an interview through email?
I have to do an interview with a veteran:
What is your name and rank?
Were you drafted or did you enlist? and where were you living at the time?
Do you recall your first days in service? and what did it feel like?
Please tell me about your boot camp/ training experiences. do you remember your instructors and how did you get through it?
Experiences
Which war(s) did you serve in? and where exactly did you go?
Do you remember arriving and what it was like?
What was your job/ assignment? Did you see combat?
What were your most memorable experiences?
Were you awarded any medals/ citations?
Life
How did you stay in touch with your family?
What was the food like?
Did you feel pressure or stress?
Was there something special you did for good luck?
How did people entertain themselves and keep from getting bored?
What did you do when on leave?
Where did you travel while in the service?
Do you recall any particularly humorous or unusual event?
Did you or any others pull any pranks?
Do you have any photographs?
Did you keep a personal diary?
After service
Do you recall the day your service ended? and where were you?

I wish you luck. for years my sister and I wondered what it was that our dad had seen while in Viet Nam. he only said that he saw too much beach and too many rice patties. he would not talk about what really went on. Not many vets will talk about their days there. then a movie called Good Morning Viet Nam came out. when I saw it I began to understand why he would not talk about it. Not understand how he felt about it but the events and things he may have witnessed. War is not as glorious as a lot of people want to think…that is why he never told us what he saw…part of why…so we would not know the gross impact of war.
