Fitness Tips? – Yahoo! Answers
Well, Im 16 and weigh 306 pounds at about six feet in height. I just started Varsity Football for my school. Well, my coach told me that he will prefer me at a weight of 280 by about July. I just wanted any and all tips that someone can think of that will hep me with my goal and increase my football skills. Hopefullly, improving my speed, explosion, agility, strength, etc,. Is this goal attainable and what do you reccomend I do?
It can happen, you just have to set your goals and keep them no matter what.
Eat healthy, workout 2-3 hours a day, each day do different workouts for different parts of the body, run a mile or two everyday. etc etc
Try doing a bunch of suicuides every day after school.also do jakc knifes
something that is really imporatnt for an althlete liek you is when you are losing all this weight.. a) do it in a healthy manor if not it will cme back to haunt u later and b) make sure u are burnning fat not muscle which can be done by not raising ur heart beat TOO high when u work out this way u will keep all that muscle but still burn tonz of fat and loose wight. drink a lot of water… low carbs is a good way to drop wieght fast anddddddd eat mnay small meals a day!
lift weights with good form, run A LOT of sprints and time yourself and try to beat the time (run them hard too), and do plyometrics (it helps with explosiveness, speed and quickness)
good workouts to improve not only your speed , but your strength in your legs and staminia is to go to the track or gym and run laps around. do this in intervals, starting out by warming up with a lap on the track. get down on the ground after that lap and do 20 push ups, do another lap on the track, get down and do 20 sit ups, keep doing laps on the track, even if you have to start out walking, you can build up your staminia, just push yourself. start out small and as long as you keep improving and working your way up, youll definately drop those exta 30lbs, youll gain staminia for the games so when you get that 3rd and 4th quarter crunch youll have absolute advantage and youll build strength to push around those other teams. stretch before and after and chew gum while you do this.
you need to lift something heavier than a loaded fork.
try eating healthy like tuna chicken (without skin) and salads, pasta and fruits and vegies, also, your going to want to utilize exercises such as the dead lift, the squat, the clean, and leg press…if your looking for additional drills for speed and agility, play alot of basketball and try wrestling
You could get alot of good with agility, speed, and drop some weight with the SPARQ football dvd. sparqstore.com or at some sporting good stores.
Tips on your position are on nflhs.com and are really good and USC's workout and some other teams like LSU are on stackmag.com
Hope these help
