Navy HPSP – Fleet Marine Training?
Okay, I've talked to the Marine Corp recruiter about the HPSP with Fleet Marine Training, but he said he'd have to get back to me on it when he talks to someone. The Navy recruiter hasn't stopped by my school yet, I'll probably have to make a call to him soon.
So I have a few questions about the Navy HPSP with the FMF training. I've read up on the program on both HPSP and FMF online, the different aspects to it and everything, try and explain this to me though:
-So you graduate high school, attend Navy Boot camp, then you take 4 years of pre-med school (and every summer, you spend 45 days or so training), to where you then take the HPSP to the Medical School you've been accepted to (doing the summer stuff again). Once your out, you request to be stationed at a Marine base or FMF ship (I think?), where you'll be sent of to take Fleet Marine training.
1) is that right, or is there a lot I'm just not getting here?
2) I've been told that the recruiters are just going to tell me what I want to hear to enlist, and not really help me towards HPSP or becoming an officer. is this true?
3) I've read that when you take Fleet Marine training, you get a pin to wear on your uniform, and you wear the Marine Corp uniforms, and I think your even allowed to wear the USMC dress uniform?
4) if you can wear the USMC uniforms, how do actual Marines feel about it?
5) How do Marines generally feel about the Naval Doctors stationed with them?
6) How close is Fleet Marine training to actual Marine Boot camp?
Thanks to anyone who helps me with this! I'd prefer personal experience or family with experience in this field.
