While my Marine is at boot camp, what can I send him ?

While my Marine is at boot camp, what can I send him ?

I am dating a Marine who is going to go to boot camp in September. I'm on the far Eastern coast, and he'll be flying to California to train for something like fifteen weeks (thirteen weeks basic, then two extra weeks of specialization training). During this time, we'll only be able to communicate through snail mail (letters). no email, no phones, no nothing. I can also send him little things – I plan on sending him pictures, lots of letters, and some other things, but I'd like some ideas for the following:

1. When he leaves for boot, I am going to have a bunch of his friends say something personal and encouraging to him on video (we'll film it and send it to him on a disc or pen drive), along with letters. I was hoping to make him a t-shirt was well, that has his name on the back (with all of his friends' signatures) and something catchy about the Marines on the front. icon smile While my Marine is at boot camp, what can I send him ?

2. while he's at boot, I would like to be able to send him some stuff, not just letters.. any ideas ?

Thanks !

p.s. I wasn't thinking about anything questionable, haha. icon smile While my Marine is at boot camp, what can I send him ? Just pictures of myself and his friends (his friends are my friends and vice versa), things like that, so he knows we're all doing well.

Send pictures (appropriate ones cause they WILL be seen by Drill's)
He won't have any use for the film or the t-shirt as they wil be confiscated apon arrival.
Unfortunately during boot camp they are limited to only their military gear, letters, and pictures if the drills permit.

Cards, letters, and nice photos. no nudes.

letters and non- nude pictures only

whatever you send him, spray your perfume on it. It'll make him feel at home.

u can only send letters, you cant send any presents

Just send the letters and pictures. Keep in mind that everyone will probably see the pictures. The DI's don't like it when recruits get packages. Don't make your boyfriend stand out in the crowd.

How is that you're on the east coast and your boyfriend is going to boot camp in San Diego? did he specifically request the west coast? Does he know about Mount MF and B. Ridge?
Everyone east of the Mississippi usually goes to Parris Island.

I was thinking the same thing Devil, about why he is going to SD instead of PI.

Any way to answer your question, do not send anything that will make your Recruit stand out from the others.

Letter and maybe a pic or 2 only.

I sent my hubby a letter with a kiss and my perfume on it, and he wrote me back and asked me not to do that again. Do not know what they did to him and don't want to.

Letters (plain) and a pic or 2 nothing else.

In one of your first letters ask him to update you if he finds out that his Senior Drill Instructor will allow certain items. For example: vitamins, cough drops, etc..

If and when he tells you that they're allowed, put together a care package of those items. not only is this a package that will be less looked down upon, but it will be helpful for him and his entire platoon.

They make chewable chocolate/caramel/etc. calcium vitamins… this is closest you can get to sending him candy besides for cough drops. This might sound really lame to you, but I swear you will be an angel sent straight from heaven if you send this type of package.

Otherwise, stick to basic envelopes with standard stationery and scents… avoid earning him any undue attention… atleast for the first couple months. Also, the more letters the better. This is one case where quantity is nearly as fulfilling quality. Encourage your friends to write, also.

Good Luck to both of you!

You can send pretty much anything you like. they will tell you he can't receive cookies, cake and such. but, they will keep them and give them to the platoon near the end of training. he won't get them directly.

You can send pictures, no problem.

Save the T-shirt for when he graduates. he won't have any way to view pics or videos on CD. Send what you can put in an envelope. if he can't pull the pics out and look at them he won't have any way to see them
