New Weight RoomThe free-weight room in the Fitness Center, Bldg. #89, NSA Annapolis, has reopened. the room has been cleaned, freshly painted and newly equipped. Fitness guidelines and courtesy instructions are posted. Please follow these and treat the new equipment as if it were your own. Fitness staff will be available for brief orientations on using the equipment 8 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday through Friday. Customers are invited to offer feedback on the new equipment at email@example.com.
Eagles vs. Redskins TicketsMWR Annapolis Information, Tickets and Travel Office is offering discount tickets to the Philadelphia Eagles vs. Washington Redskins game Nov. 15 at 8:30 p.m. at FedEx Field in Landover, Md. Cost is $76 per ticket, and tickets must be purchased in pairs. Deadline to order is Nov. 8. to purchase tickets, stop by the customer service desk in the MWR Recreation Bldg. #89, NSA Annapolis or call 410-293-9200 to charge by phone.
5th Annual Army-Navy Football Give-awayPick up a copy of the fall issue of ‘‘Forecast,” the joint services leisure guide available at many facilities at the Naval Academy and NSA Annapolis, and enter the 5th Annual Army-Navy Football Weekend Give-away contest. You could win a weekend in Philadelphia with tickets to the 111th Army-Navy game. Entry deadline is Nov. 8.
Naval Academy Garden ClubThe garden club members will attend the District II Federated Garden Clubs of Maryland Standard Flower show, entitled ‘‘the Magic of the Nutcracker,” Nov. 16 from 2 to 8 p.m. and Nov. 17 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. the event will be held at Our Shepherd Lutheran Church, 400 Benfield Road, Severna Park, Md. many garden club members will be exhibiting horticulture and floral designs in the show. Flu VaccinationThe 2010 influenza vaccine is currently available at the immunizations clinic at Naval Health Clinic Annapolis on weekdays from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. Appointments are not required. Seasonal flu vaccination is mandatory for all DoD uniformed personnel who are not medically or administratively exempt. Patients with egg allergies will need to go to the Allergy Clinic at National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda for their flu vaccine. if active-duty members attain the flu vaccine from civilian sources, they must bring a copy of the paperwork to the immunization clinic so the vaccine can be entered into their military immunization records. Failure to bring in the records may require the active duty member to get a repeat administration of the vaccine.
Navy Nic-Out⁄great American SmokeoutNaval Health Clinic Annapolis’ Health and Wellness Clinic will sponsor the Navy Nic-Out⁄great American Smokeout Nov. 18 to encourage tobacco users to quit. Adopt a tobacco user (dipper or smoker) and help them get through 24 hours tobacco free. Prizes will be awarded. Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society HoursDue to a lack of volunteers, the local NMCRS office is only open Tuesdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. the office is located at 168 Bennion Road at NSA Annapolis. Clients needing assistance when the local office is closed should call 202-433-3364. the NMCRS Thrift Shop at bldg. 31 on Alder rd. will continue its regular hours Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Zumba Classes StartMWR Fitness will host Zumba classes through Dec. 16 on Tuesdays at 11 a.m. and Thursdays at 5 p.m. (except Thanksgiving Day). There will be a total of 20 classes during this time period. Classes are free for all active duty and $5 a class for all others. Participants can purchase a Zumba Frequent Fitness Pass at the Customer Service Desk of the MWR Recreation Services Bldg. #89, NSA Annapolis. the pass costs $40 and includes 10 classes. with the pass, participants can come to any 10 classes during that time. Col. Ripley Memorial 5KJoin the Navy Sprint Football team Nov. 14 at 7:30 a.m. for the ‘‘Fuel 4 Life” 5K in honor of Marine Col. John Ripley. the race will begin and end at the Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium. All proceeds will benefit the Injured Marine Semper Fi Fund.
