The Coalition for the National Foundation on Physical Fitness, Sports and Nutrition Tips for a Healthy and Fun Thanksgiving

Reduce Thanksgiving Calories by Two-Thirds or more and Get Moving

WASHINGTON–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Today the Coalition for the National Foundation on Physical Fitness, Sports and Nutrition, advocating for legislation that would create a Congressionally chartered Foundation to secure resources to support the President’s Council on Physical Fitness, Sports and Nutrition, released tips for making Thanksgiving healthier for you and your family. Tips include Thanksgiving Day recipe suggestions, leftover recipe suggestions and fitness ideas.

“Thanksgiving is all about eating lots of food with family and friends. However, our tips can show you how to cut the calories in a typical Thanksgiving dinner by two-thirds,” said former Congressman and NBA player Tom McMillen, Chair of the Coalition for the National Foundation on Physical Fitness, Sports and Nutrition.

“Another way to make Thanksgiving healthier is to use it as an opportunity to get active with the people you love,” said Bonnie Bernstein, ESPN journalist, former all-American gymnast and Co-Vice Chair of the Coalition.

“If you follow all our tips—from recipes to getting moving—you can cut your typical Thanksgiving Day net caloric intake from over 3,000 to just over a hundred,” said Rob Housman of Book Hill Partners and BHP Sports and Co-Vice Chair of the Coalition. “You can turn Thanksgiving from a gut buster to a great start on getting you and your family healthy,” he added.
