Booster Club selling ads for 2010 program

The Red rage Booster Club is selling ads for the 2010 footballprogram. Available ad sizes are business-card, quarter page, halfpage, third page, full page and banner. Cost is dependent uponsize. Varsity parents are encouraged to buy an ad to support theirplayer.

New Era Softball tourney next weekend

Strength & conditioning offered for girls

A free strength and speed training camp for girls is beingoffered by Plainview ISD to improve development in all fall andspring sports. Workouts are 8-10 a.m. Monday-Thursday in the LadyBulldog Field House, 24th and Yonkers. Dates are July 5-8, 12-15,19-23, 26-30. For more information call Jodie LaFrance at291-9514.

On those same dates from 10-11 a.m., a Lady Dog Strength andConditioning Camp hosted by Coach Teena Bennett is being offeredfor $15 per camper. Focus is on strengthening with weights,plyo-metrics and cardio. Cost includes a T-shirt. For moreinformation call Bennett at 292-3103.

Bulldog Tennis Boot Camp slated

The final Bulldog Tennis Boot Camp hosted by PHS tennis coachMatt Boedeker will be held from 9-11:30 a.m. July 5-8 at the PHScourts. Cost is $40 with divisions for beginner, intermediate andhigh school.

Pioneer men to hold basketball camp

The Wayland Baptist University men’s basketball team is holdinga boarding camp July 11-15 for boys ages 8-18. Campers will workwith Pioneers coaches and players and learn all aspects of thegame. both team and individual fundamentals will be stressed. Thecamp will also feature team competition.

Tennis tournament scheduled Saturday

The Firecracker Open tennis tournament will be held at 8 a.m.Saturday at the PHS tennis courts with singles and doublesdivisions for junior high, high school and adults. Cost is $15 forsingles and $20 per doubles team. Sign up by . Payment can be made the day ofthe tournament.

Schedule released for summer workouts

Summer workouts for the Plainview High School athletic programare ongoing. Workouts are from 8-10 a.m. Monday-Thursday forincoming ninth-12th grade athletes and 11 a.m-1 p.m. for incomingseventh and eighth graders. all workouts will be at the high schoolfieldhouse weight room.

The UIL allows schools and school coaches to conduct strength andspeed programs for students in grades 7-12 for a total of six weeksfor two hours per day.

WBU to hold all-skills volleyball camp

The Wayland Baptist University Pioneers volleyball team willhost an all-skills camp July 7-9 for girls in grades 6-10. the campwill focus on fundamental skills that will enhance their overallability. the camp is open to all skill levels with girls competingagainst others will similar abilities.

Cost is $280 for overnight campers and includes meals. Commuterspay $200 which includes lunch and dinner. the camp is broken intomorning, afternoon and evening sessions.

Campers should bring court shoes, shorts, socks, T-shirts, kneepadsand ankle/knee braces, if needed. Overnight campers should alsobring personal toiletries, pillow and twin size bed linens orsleeping bag.
