Outdoor Adventure Boot Camp returns to Kensington
Outdoor Adventure Boot Camp fitness program is a four-week intense interval training workout taught by a certified personal trainer at Kensington Metropark.
Training will rotate between various locations within the park providing fresh and varied training sessions with a unique style. Discover some of the hidden secrets of the park and learn more about the beautiful landscape and wildlife while being challenged with a fresh new workout each morning. There will be a rain workout within the shelter, if necessary so no need to get wet.
The program includes a pre-evaluation and a post-evaluation with a fitness assessment, nutrition seminar on DVD, T-shirt, boot camp manual with training and nutrition details including a food journal, and three one-hour intense, interval training sessions per week for four weeks.
The first boot camp session of the season starts may 24 and will be offered on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 6-7 a.m.. Evening classes are also available on Monday and Wednesday 6-7 p.m. with a Saturday 7-8 a.m. workout. The program will run for four sessions until fall.
Class sizes are limited to 20 participants to provide a small group training environment. This program is open to adults of all ages and fitness levels with medical clearance from their doctors.
“I am excited to offer this opportunity to enjoy the best of Kensington’s natural environment while offering an excellent full body strength training workout,” said Laura Islas, certified personal trainer with the National Academy of Sports Medicine, NASM. Class layout includes walking on trails, cardiovascular training, strength training, balance training, reactive training and stretching. The cost of the program is $199 for the first session with a 25 percent discount for returning boot camp members. one full scholarship per session will be for someone who has lost their job and is currently on unemployment.
