Personal Fitness Matters

It was great to have a meeting recently with two people in their fifties who just brimmed confidence and to see that a lot of it was attributable to their high level of physical fitness.  Both of these people had gone out of their way to keep themselves physically fit and as a result were mentally really on the ball.  although it was only a sample of two it really indicated to me that there is that ongoing relationship between keeping yourself physically active and your resultant capacity to remain mentally active.

Interestingly, one of these people saw the opportunity to go walking on a regular basis as his personal quiet time where he could plan future activities in a state of full mental alertness.  He said that he felt he was getting double value out of his exercise program.

To me this double whammy of exercising and thinking was a wonderful example of just remaining active for life and enjoying the benefits of exercise as it occurred.  certainly, this was one personal success strategy that was working well for the individual concerned.

The beauty of this relationship of physical fitness to mental fitness is that everyone can do it no matter what their state of health because fitness is a totally personal concept.

So get into the swing by doing a little to improve your physical fitness and then building your activity to a level where you feel it matches your needs, your mental health and your confidence will be better as a result.
